Measure the job before comparing machines
- Reach: distance from a safe machine location to the farthest cleaning point
- Lift: pond depth plus any uphill discharge
- Debris: fine silt, string algae, leaves, gravel or heavy sludge
- Discharge: where dirty water will go without washing back into the pond
- Frequency: one major cleanout or routine maintenance
The feature that changes the experience
Entry-level wet vacuums commonly fill a tank, stop suction and then empty. That can be perfectly reasonable for a small pond. On a larger or dirtier pond, the repeated pause becomes the real limitation. Dual-chamber or continuous-discharge designs reduce interruption and usually justify their cost through time saved, not simply stronger marketing specifications.
